Don Norman — Design of Interaction
Operationalizes Don Norman's human-centered design vocabulary: affordances, signifiers, mapping, feedback, conceptual models, constraints, the two gulfs, and the slips-vs-mistakes error taxonomy. Where the Krug pack tells you *that* interfaces must be obvious, this pack explains *why* they aren't — and gives the mechanical levers to fix it.

Principios
- · Physical — the USB-C plug only fits one way; a disabled field can't be typed in.
- · Semantic — meaning rules out actions (the rider goes on the horse's back).
- · Cultural — conventions (red = stop/danger/destructive).
- · Logical — one slot left, one piece left.
- · Gulf of execution: user knows the goal, can't see how to act. Bridged by signifiers, constraints, mapping, conventions.
Patrones
- · Classify by gulf first. User couldn't start → execution gulf (fix signifiers/mapping). User acted then hesitated/repeated the action → evaluation gulf (fix feedback/state visibility).
- · Slip or mistake? Ask: did they intend the right thing? Yes → slip → mechanical fix. No → mistake → communication fix.
- · Walk the seven stages on any stubborn flow failure; mark the first stage where users stall — fix there, not downstream.
- · Read the support inbox as a model-diff. Every repeated question names a screen whose system image lies.
- · New interaction? Steal the model. Before inventing, find an existing conceptual model users already hold (cart, folder, timeline, feed) and bend it.

Checklist
- [ ] No invisible modes: any state that changes behavior has a persistent indicator. (NR25)
- [ ] Irreversible destructive operations use proportional forcing functions. (NR16)
- [ ] Unsaved work cannot be silently destroyed by navigation/close. (NR17)
- [ ] Every error state preserves data and offers a next step. (NR20, NR21)
- [ ] Every primary action has a visible signifier; nothing important is gesture-only or shortcut-only. (NR1)
- [ ] Acknowledgment <100ms; >1s operations show progress; >10s cancelable. (NR9, NR10)
