WCAG — Web Accessibility as Pass/Fail Engineering

Operationalizes the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (2.2, level AA as the working target) into concrete pass/fail checks for building and reviewing. This is AKOS's accessibility floor: per the constitution, no reasoning profile and no personal preference may drop below it.

Principios

  • · MP1 — Native first. Use the HTML element that exists (button, a, select, dialog, details) before rebuilding it with ARIA.
  • · MP2 — Wrong ARIA < no ARIA. ARIA promises behavior; unkept promises actively mislead. Follow the APG patterns completely or use native.
  • · MP3 — Test the tree, not the pixels. Review with keyboard walks and accessibility-tree inspection; automated scanners are the floor-finder, not the audit.

Patrones

  • · Reach for the native element first. Ask "does HTML have this?" before writing a component. dialog, details, datalist, progress, meter cover more than teams remember.
  • · If you wrote onClick on a div, stop. Make it a button — you get keyboard, focus, role, and name mechanics free.
  • · Name everything at birth. Adding accessible names in a later "a11y pass" costs 5× writing them inline now.
  • · Style states, don't erase them. Focus rings, checked states, disabled looks: restyle to match the brand, never remove.
  • · Design tokens carry the floor. Bake 4.5:1 pairs into the palette tokens so no one picks failing combinations ad hoc.

Riesgos

  • [ ] Focus visible everywhere. (WC12)
  • [ ] Errors identified in text, associated with fields, focus moved to first error. (WC29)
  • [ ] Body text and primary controls meet contrast floors. (WC16, WC17)
